An exciting opportunity to join our core farm team in a varied and rewarding role. The farm extends to approx. 600 acres and has been managed to full organic standards for over 17 years, certified by the Soil Association.
The main enterprises include an extensively managed herd of 85 spring calving suckler cows (predominantly South Devon). A flock of approx. 400 native breed ewes, which are registered with the Pasture Fed Livestock Association (PFLA) and as such are supported entirely from pasture. A small herd of native breed pigs. A modest acreage of combinable crops are also grown. Meat produced from the farm is butchered and sold onsite through our own Farm Shop and at local markets.
The job / duties will include an involvement in all aspects of the farming system and as such duties will be varied and rewarding. Hours are based around a 39 hour working week (mon – Fri) with overtime and weekend work as required.
There is the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of the farming system and management of the different enterprises as appropriate.
Some tractor and telehandler experience and a telehandler license important. ATV experience and formal training / license an advantage along with other relevant qualifications.
Regular time off available and encouraged.
High quality two bedroom cottage with large lean too garage available in a quiet and private location within the farm.
The surrounding area is quiet and rural yet close (within 5 miles) to several large towns, giving a great mix of countryside yet good accessibility
